Gas in Georgia
I am just amazed at how much I am paying for gas recently - even the lawn men are now charging an extra gas surcharge. Yikes! This is a pic of what it cost to fill up today.

Can we say remember who is in office? Can we look at the huge profits for the oil companies? We can say Yes, we are getting ripped off. Prices are lower in September, HMMMM, must have something to do with the fall elections, because nothing has changed.

Hertz and Their Infinite Wisdom
Pittsburgh has been snowy and cold for the past couple of weeks, and there is supposedly more in store! So, how would you feel if Hertz rented you a convertible Mustang? That is what happened to me last week! I drove the black convertible - complete with Florida tags and satellite radio - through snow and over ice. I scraped the windows each morning and somehow fit my luggage in the truck. By the time I returned the convertible, it was covered in a grey salty film, and I was glad to be rid of it. It is a fun car in a warm setting, but Pittsburgh in winter, no way! :-P

They once gave me the same car in Tahoe just after a blizzard! I'm just glad that they don't inspect the underside of the car when you turn them back in...

Z3 Transportation of Christmas Tree
I know it is almost time to go home for the holidays when JB comes to pick up the tree. Yes, it is true, we share one tree, because Shawn and I are not in Atlanta for the holidays. What happens is this, after the Dutch XXXmas party, we remove the ornaments from the tree and put the tree in JB's Z3 for transportation to JB and Mona's condo. If you are lucky, you may actually catch a glimpse of this sassy Santa during his yearly christmas tree transportation!

Shawn's Brand New Car
On Friday, Shawn had an appointment at the car dealership at 10 AM. When he was not back by 2 PM, I knew that he had bought a new car. It is a gorgeous, silver Acura TL! It had just arrived on the truck that morning and had only 2 miles on it! (It had 22 miles in the photo below.) In addition, it has all of the fancy extras that one would ever need - GPS navigation system, satellite radio, heated seats, carbon-fiber trim, 6-disc CD/DVD audio changer, leather seats, sunroof, cassette deck, cruise control, lots of horsepower... Shawn could give you the low down, but I just like the car. It feels good, rides nice, and tells us where to go and how to get home. I hope Shawn enjoys it very much!

Wow! This is a very cool car! I love leather heated seats. I had them in my GMC Jimmy and absolutely loved them. I need a vehicle that keeps you from getting lost, because God knows I can sure get lost. Enjoy the new ride!

Cruising in the M-Series
I had to drop off my lovely car at RBM of Atlanta this morning because the air conditioning was not working properly. In the 100 degree Georgia heat, that does pose a problem! The great thing about RBM of Atlanta is that they treat me as if I bought my Mercedes there (I moved to Atlanta within a week of purchasing the car). This allows me to borrow a loaner car while my car is in the repair shop. It is great! I get to try out something new (perhaps it will influence a future purchase?), and I do not have to worry about begging people for rides. This time, I have an M-series. Surprisingly, I have found that I like it a lot! The leather seats are very comfortable, it rides like a dream, and it is tall enough so that I can see over the other cars. I feel like I am being unfaithful to my car as I fall in love with this one! ;P

smart Roadster
smart is the youngest car brand in the portfolio of DaimlerChrysler AG and a member of the Mercedes Car Group alongside the big brands Mercedes-Benz and Maybach, but don't let that fool you! When I landed in Frankfurt on Sunday, the only available car that Europcar had was a smart Roadster. What choice did I have? The great things about this car are that it fits in my purse and that handles like a go-kart. As it is a cabrio, it is impossible to hear the Grundig stereo. In fact, I am not sure that the car is an automatic, and I cannot figure out if there is a gear for 'Park'. If I decide to use my turn signals, both indicators flash on the dash, which reminds me of hazard lights. Did I mention that there is no trunk? I finally opened what I thought would be the truck in the back and found the engine. In the glove compartment, I found a latch, which opened the hood, where a small storage compartment is available to hold items such as a small purse or maybe even a sandwich. My luggage did, however, enjoy the ride from Frankfurt to Heidelberg in the passenger seat, whereas other drivers just stared at me and wondered if I knew that my hair looked like Firestarter. Oh well. Be on the lookout for smart's entry into the U.S. market in 2006! Hoorah!
